What Your Child Will Study
Curriculum
The following subjects are taught at Badsley Moor Junior School.
We try to integrate these subjects into a topic approach as much as possible to make learning more fun and relevant to the children whilst keeping the rigour and focus of the individual subjects. We believe that this increases engagement and therefore progress. The school has been leading the Clifton federation in developing deep learning encouraging children to learn through hands on activities and to understand and improve their own learning processes. We are also beginning to embed the learning skills curriculum in our work which the children will be familiar with from the infants school. Through these approaches we aim to ensure that your children will enjoy their learning at Badsley Moor Junior School and leave us having attained their full potential with a solid base of lifelong learning skills which will help them to continue this success throughout the rest of their education.
Homework
Formal homework is set for all our children and we aim to reinforce and build upon what the children are learning in school. The work will mainly focus on Literacy and Numeracy but other subjects, outlined above, may be included. Reading and spelling should be done each day as set out in the organiser and these are in addition to other homework.
Individual class teachers make their own professional decisions about the level of homework they set for their class. Work will always be set at a level to suit children’s individual needs. We ask for parental support in encouraging their child to complete the work that is set, supporting them where necessary and encouraging independence when appropriate.
Parents are welcome to discuss any issues that arise concerning their child’s homework with either Mrs Thompson or their child’s class teacher.
